History

Millican Pecan's Online Store is one of our newest ventures, but our company boasts a truly rich history. Our great great grandfather, EE Risien, founded the West Texas Pecan Nursery at the junction of the San Saba and Colorado Rivers. This part of the Texas Hill Country is known as the "Pecan Capital of the World." From this location he developed many great pecan varieties, as well as a prosperous orchard that serves our customers well even to this day.

The "Mother Pecan Tree", located in the heart of this orchard, has been used to produce many great pecan varieties. The San Saba Improved, Texas Prolific, Onliwon, Squirrel Delight, No.60, and Western Schley are just a few of the varieties this tree has produced.

During his era, our great great grandfather's customer base included Lord Tennyson, Queen Victoria of England, and the cereal company giant, CW Post. Today, our company is breaking new ground and pursuing new markets. Our product lines are expanding. But our vision for the future is rooted in our heritage from the past.

Millican Pecan is where old fashioned goodness and state of the art technology meet. Our goal is to deliver quality pecan products from our orchard to you!

Meet the Owners

Winston Millican grew up on his family's farm in San Saba, Texas. He has experience in all aspects of pecan production. His educational background is in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis on Food and Fiber Marketing at Texas A&M University. You can email Winston at Winston@PecanCompany.com
